First built by the Co-operative Society in 1896, Throckley Community Hall has been an important place for the local community for nearly 130 years. In the early 1980s the Co-operative Society made the decision to close the hall as it was no longer seen as financially viable. A group of local women petitioned the Society to pass the Hall over to the local community and it has been managed by the community ever since.
Ann Robinson shared her memories of the early days of the community management of the Hall and her work to provide for local children and young people.
