For children and young people growing up in the mining village of Throckley, entertainment was often about making your own fun. The back lanes, Dene, coalyards and brickyards could all be playgrounds if you used your imagination.


Alan Douglass shared his memories with us of play and entertainment in 1950s Throckley.
